WHAT           Opening Ceremony of the Erie County Fair

WHERE         Historic McKinley Gate, McKinley Parkway, Hamburg Fairgrounds

TIME             10:30am Opening Ceremonies, Opening at 11am

Hamburg, NY – The 182nd Erie County Fair will officially open to the general public at 11am.  There will be a short ceremony beginning about 10:30am at the Fair’s historic McKinley Gate.  The program will also include remarks by Fair Officials, Commissioner Ball from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, introduction of the 2022 Ultimate Fairgoer and the 2022 scholarship recipients. The national anthem will be performed by the Erie County Fair All Star Band followed by a flyover by the Erie County Sheriffs and a flurry of fireworks by Skylighters of New York.

Special Events

  • Gate Discount Offer – bring 4 cans of food to benefit Feedmore WNY and receive free admission to the Fair.
  • Midway Game Inspection – The Erie County Sheriff’s will be inspecting the midway games to ensure they are fair for our guests.  Inspection will begin around 11:15am
  • Ceremonial Keg Tapping – To celebrate the Best in Show Homebrew and Cider, a ceremonial keg tapping will take place at 5:00pm at Grapes and Hops (located on 42nd Street) at the Erie County Fair.
  • NEW!  Daily Firefighter Honoree Ceremony honoring David Morales, a member of the Getzville Fire Company.  The ceremony will take place outside of the Firemen’s Building at 6:00pm and will be a daily occurrence during the Fair.
  • Daily Flag Retreat Ceremony During the ceremony the American flag, which was flown during that day at the Fair, will be lowered and presented to a veteran and/or active military member of the military who will be the “Flag Retreat Honoree of the Day.” This ceremony is beginning August 8th at 6:30pm in Slade Park and happening every day of the Fair.
  • The Fab Four – The Ultimate Beatles Tribute will perform in The Buffalo News Grandstand starting at 8:00pm.  This is a free show.
  • Skylighters Fireworks presented by Channel 2 On Your Side – Opening Day will end when Skylighters of New York lights up the night sky.  The show is scheduled to begin at 9:30am.

The 182nd Erie County Fair will be held August 10th – 21st, 2022 (www.ECFair.org).
