Hamburg, NY, – Hamburg Town Board Member Beth Farrell and Hamburg Development Corporation Director Sean Doyle announce that the Town has been appointed as grantor of  Community Development Block Grant CARES Act funding through New York State Department of Housing and Community Renewal. The Town received $450,000 to help small businesses prevent, prepare for, and respond to the spread of COVID-19.

“We know Hamburg businesses are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and this funding is just one of the ways we in town government are working to support local businesses. We have secured the funds.  Now, we support these businesses, helping them navigate the application process and federal requirements of this program,” said Town Board Member Beth Farrell 

Small Business Grant Relief Program – Maximum of $50,000 per business, based upon need.

Minimum request is $5,000

The goal of this program is to keep businesses open and retain jobs in those that are at-risk of closing or laying off employees due to policies related to COVID-19 and the overall impact on the world wide economy.  .

Financing under this program is available to eligible for-profit businesses with fewer than 25 employees that have experienced a net decrease in year over year net revenue attributed to the pandemic.

Some examples of eligible uses could include – New point of sale equipment to allow social distancing – Working capital to help market new digital offerings of a product or service – Soft costs, such as rent and insurance to help stabilize the business – Purchase of equipment and hiring employees to maintain new cleaning protocols

New York State Senator Sean Ryan and Assemblyman Jonathan Rivera have also expressed support for the Town of Hamburg to receive this funding.
