HAMBURG, NEW YORK – The Fairgrounds Festival of Lights have teamed up with WKBW 7 Eyewitness News and FeedMore WNY to Shine A Light on Hunger.  Our hope is that we can come together as a community to help our neighbors in need during this unique time.

On Friday, December 11th bring your non perishable food items with you to the contactless food drive at the Festival Of Lights.  We will take the donation directly from your vehicle when you arrive at the gate.  We have a limited number of special gifts from our friends at Tops Friendly Markets, Upstate Farms, Milk for Health, US Foods including snacks, a holiday craft, letters to Santa and more.  Can’t make it in the evening, we welcome your donations from 10:00 am-4:00 pm on Friday in front of the Carousel Banquet Facility, head straight in from the South Park entrance to the building with the Buffalo Raceway sign.  More information on donating available at www.FairgroundsHoliday.com.

The 16th annual Fairgrounds Festival of Lights, 2020 Style, is a safe holiday experience.  Drive Thru 50 acres of sparkling lights with over 70 displays.  Tickets must be purchased in advance at TOPS Friendly Markets or FairgroundsHoliday.com for just $15 per vehicle.

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic crisis have resulted in record numbers of Western New Yorkers facing food insecurity. “Many of our vulnerable community members experience an increase in need for food assistance during the holiday season. This year, thousands more neighbors are relying on FeedMore WNY for nutritious food due to the pandemic. In fact, as many as one in six individuals in FeedMore WNY’s four-county service area may be struggling with hunger due to the COVID-19 health crisis,” Tara A. Ellis, President and CEO of FeedMore WNY, said, “we are grateful to our partners at the Hamburg Fairgrounds for holding the ‘Shine a Light on Hunger’ food drive. We encourage the Western New York community to support this event and help lift up their less fortunate neighbors during this season of giving.”

This level of food insecurity will persist into the holiday season and beyond, and FeedMore WNY remains committed to providing healthy meals to those in need every step of the way.  As we approach a holiday season unlike any other, the need for food assistance in Western New York persists.
