Hamburg, New York – 20  May 2020 – The Hamburg Industrial Development Agency will be expanding its marketing efforts of the Lake Erie Commerce Center through a matching grant from National Grid.  The award will be used to boost both local and national marketing efforts of the prime industrial development site.

“We have close to 70 acres of pre-permitted, easily accessible, greenfield space,” said Hamburg IDA Executive Director, Sean Doyle.  “This partnership with National Grid, through the NYS Public Service Commission approved Economic Development Plan is the boost we need to further the development of this site, create quality jobs and promote sustainable development.”

The Lake Erie Commerce Center is a 140- acre industrial site acquired by the Hamburg New York Land Development Corporation in 2011.  Doyle’s role at the Hamburg IDA is to further industrial development at the park, thus bolstering the Town’s commercial tax base for its residents.  The land sits on southeast corner of Lake Shore Road and Bayview in the Town of Hamburg.

National Grid economic development grants are used to meet a wide range of customer needs, including business recruitment, urban revitalization, brownfield remediation and strategic marketing, to name a few. National Grid awarded the Town of Hamburg IDA grant through its Cooperative Business Recruitment program.

“Our Cooperative Business Recruitment program provides matching funds for cooperative marketing initiatives between National Grid and our economic development partners,” said National Grid regional director Ken Kujawa. “The Lake Erie Commerce Park will use it to update signage, create a video and update their website, which will include details about infrastructure, wetland delineation, topography and more.”
