The Town of Hamburg Recreation Foundation is hosting a Book Sale featuring valuable first editions, collectible books and multi-media items (CDs, movies, VHS tapes, vinyl records and more) on Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Town of Hamburg Senior Community Center.
On Saturday, the Book Sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will include a free tea sampling courtesy of the Purr-fect Tea & Tea Lounge of East Aurora, which will host a high tea at 1 p.m. for 25, complete with table linens and fine china. Tea lovers will delight in watching tea “blooming” before their very eyes from live flowers steeping in clear carafes. Teas will also be available for purchase. A cookie sale will also take place featuring 4-inch Christmas cookies, along with favorites such as macadamia nut, almond cherry and M&M pan cookies, all sold for $3 apiece. Cookies will be provided by Magpies. Hardcover books will be sold for $1 each and paperbacks for 50 cents per book.
On Sunday, the Book Sale will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as a “bag sale,” where purchasers can fill a brown paper bag and pay $5 per bag. Other items will be for sale will be marked with various prices.
“Members of the Hamburg Recreation Foundation are eager to begin fund-raising for projects outlined in the town’s Master Plan for Parks & Recreation,” said Martin C. Denecke, director of the Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services. “We greatly appreciate your patronage and support of these efforts!”
The Town of Hamburg Senior Community Center is at 4540 Southwestern Blvd., Hamburg. On the day of the even, the building may be entered from either the front, Door #1 or the side, Door #9. The Town of Hamburg Recreation Foundation has been established in an effort to improve the quality of life for members of our community. This goal will be accomplished by enhancing existing and/or developing new recreation facilities. The definition of community goes beyond our boundaries and is inclusive of all individuals regardless of age, creed, ability, race or gender.
