The Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services will hold a Master’s Barbecue Company pulled pork dinner on Saturday, April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. in conjunction with its annual Donny Thiry Day Spring/Summer Recreation Expo and Senior Services Open House at the Town of Hamburg Senior Community Center, 4540 Southwestern Blvd. Proceeds of the dinner will benefit the Town of Hamburg Adult Day Services.

 Tickets for the dinner cost $11 per person and will only be available pre-sale at any HSCC reception desk or by calling 646-5145. Diners may eat in or take out. Checks should be made payable to the Hamburg Recreation Foundation.

 Expo activities will include a Senior Fitness Extravaganza at 11:15 a.m. in the Donny C. Thiry Memorial Gymnasium and will feature a line dancing demonstration. The Buffalo Dolls will entertain in HSCC’s Dining Room from noon to 1 p.m.; Mike Seege will perform magic shows in the classroom and there will be face painting by Youth Engaged in Service (YES) volunteers. A basket raffle will also be available.

The Recreation Expo is with the support of the Donny Thiry Foundation and will showcase the town’s spring and summer recreation programs and sites as well as adaptive recreation options for those with mental and physical challenges. The Senior Open House will feature the Aging Mastery Program, along with building tours, activities and demonstrations. The recently approved updated Town of Hamburg Parks and Recreation Master Plan, highlighting the Village of Hamburg Fitness Trail Network will be on display in the John H. Farrell Memorial Library.

Programs, events and facilities to be highlighted event include: Tennis and Flag Football demonstrations, adaptive recreation programs, Woodlawn Beach, Hamburg Town Park, 18 Mile Creek Golf Course, Hook a Kid on Golf, playgrounds, Woodlawn Adventure Camp, Day Camp Friendship. The Town of Hamburg Police will be on hand to provide scam information and accept medications in a pill drop off.
