(Hamburg, NY – December 8, 2017) According to the Food Bank of WNY an estimated 178,810 people (13.3% of the overall population) are food insecure. Food insecurity is defined as not having consistent access to enough nutritious food to lead a healthy life. Of that population, 58,430 are children who are food insecure.

Food insecurity can be the result from several events such as:

A loss of a job.

A sudden illness or costs from an unexpected hardship.

Inadequate wages.

SERVPRO of The Southtowns teamed up with some of our top vendors to eliminate the fear of not having a meal this holiday season.

With the help from Stohl Environmental, CRDN of Western New York, Sherwin Williams of Hamburg, DiVal Security, Tontine Carpet, and Urban Valet Cleaners a total of 581 pounds of food was donated to the Food Bank of WNY on December 6, 2017.

SERVPRO of The Southtowns would like to thank our vendors for coming together and helping us make such a generous donation this holiday season. Together, we were able to give back to families in our community, and hopefully help bridge the hunger gap.

No one should have to worry about going hungry, especially during the holiday season. If you need help knowing where your next meal is coming from, please contact your local food bank to get help. If you are unsure of where the closest food bank is, the Food Bank of WNY at 716-852-1305 will direct you to the closest one.
